The picture was later retouched (probably because of the airy attitude of the German army officers in the light of the fallen soldiers), compare with File:Massengrab Fromelles retuschiert.jpg
Deutsch: Angeblich Massengrab bei Vimy 1917, ausgehoben von deutschen Soldaten, links Offiziere. Amtliche (spätere) Unterschrift der retouchierten Version (s.u.) "Gefallene Deutsche und Engländer werden gemeinschaftlich dem Frieden der Erde übergeben" - Aufgrund Aufschrift auf der Rückseite der Ansichtskarte: ("Zur Erinnerung an den Angriff der Engländer bei Fromelles") vermutlich schon 1916 bei Fromelles und in erster Linie (oder ausschließich) britische u. australische Gefallene im Grab.
